About
Mitch digs innovation and collaboration. He’s been involved in activities related to innovation and entrepreneurship for nearly two decades. Although he’d like to take personal credit for the rise of innovation as an industry, he’s just as surprised about it as you are.
For most of his career, Mitch has danced between the public and private sectors. Currently, Mitch is the Chief Executive of polyWonk, a start-up developing a platform and services for collaboration and innovation in public policy. Previously, Mitchell was the Sr. Advisor to NESTA, a UK agency devoted to catalyzing innovation and entrepreneurship, where he was responsible for policy development and engagement. Mitchell also leads Virtuous Circle, a consultancy promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, where he has worked with clients such as the Institute for Manufacturing at Oxford University and the United Nation’s Commission on Science and Technology for Development.
Before relocating to Europe, he spent eight years as a strategy consultant with Deloitte in San Francisco where he launched the Innovation Well, a service offering to identify and explore innovative concepts within large organizations. In 2001, he co-founded OnRamp, a business accelerator serving start-ups and spin-outs of Fortune 500 firms. Other experience includes work with the Missouri Innovation Center and the Center for Technology Assessment and Policy.
Mitchell holds an MPA in innovation policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, an MSc in Technology and Human Affairs, and a BSc in Computer Science. He is a member of the Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the RSA. He is based in London.
